instant sorrow

The prompt for today was Instant Sorrow. Had to work to get this one… day fourteen!

Instant Sorrow

I feel an instant sorrow

We’re leaving the beach tomorrow

Fiesta with friends for the last few days

Spent our time out in the ocean’s waves

Sunblock, mimosas and crab claws

Umbrellas, shades and cute sandals

A beach to ourselves, beauty unbidden

We danced under the moonlight, like carefree children

Feet deep in the sand, beach chairs sunk low

No sign of spurs, jelly fish, tourists or local Joe

Dined on fruits, fish, crab and wine, everything tasting divine

Days spent taking in the beauty from my toes to the horizon line

We pack our things, pick out our last cute dress, preparing to go

One laat night, walking the shore, watching the little worms all aglow

Beauty in nature, beauties walking with nature, leaving tomorrow

Sad faces head north, leaving the waves, sand and sun. Instant sorrow

Walkers at Dawn

Walkers at Dawn

I blink three times,

Laughing too hard

To remember what

We were laughing about.

We look around,

No one else is left but

You and I and the fire,

still blazing.

The party ended hours ago.

We didn’t hear them

Pack up to go.

We stretch, we rise.

The night soon reaching

Its demise.

We take hands,

Head back down

The shore line.

Three miles till we hit

The city streets.

We race against

The sun’s rising pace.

Sky turning light blue

Right before our face.

Walkers at dawn,

Beating the yawn

Of the morning sun.

Savoring last night’s fun,

We burst in our front door

Home once more.

I run to the shower,

You rest on the floor.

Walkers at dawn,

I hope we get the chance

To be those people

Once more.
